Sunday Chronicles

Dear Stick,

I have been dating this incredible woman for about 4 months now. The other evening, we were at a birthday party for a co-worker of mine (shall we call her Dana), and all was fun and entertaining as usual. The next morning as my significant other and I were beginning to wake up, my head still cloudy from the alcohol-soaked associations from the previous evening, I wrapped my arms around her and accidentally called her, “Dana.” I have never been snapped into sober consciousness so quickly. My s/o immediately rolled over and let out a gasp which made my heart drop. I apologized profusely but couldn’t really explain why I called her another woman’s name. Though Dana and I were co-workers, there was never anything between us except the occasional flirtatious comment and witty exchange on the rare occasion when our paths would cross. I can’t explain it other than as the evening celebrations were in Dana’s name, and as I made the transition from sleep to consciousness that morning, my thoughts and sense of self were catching up from the previous party atmosphere to the current, early morning situation with my s/o. How do I explain this seemingly silly, innocent mistake to my better half while acknowledging her hurt feelings?

Dear Aglazedick,

Man, my two dawgs, Zillmer and Spiers, got talkin’ ‘bout a more primitive limbic lobe, otherwise knows as the entire forebrain structure prior to its evolution when it integrated the medial cortex encompassing the corpus callosum, known to the common people as the cingulate gyrus, as well as the medial cortex of the temporal lobes, or to the laymen, the parahippocampal gyrus, and the hippocampal formation, commonly referred to the hippocampus, dentate gyrus, and subiculum. Though often debated, the structures of the limbic system usually include the fornix, some minute stem structures, in particular the mammillary bodies of the hypothalamus, specific basal forebrain structures including the amygdala and the septum. Often disregarded is the character of the basolateral circuit, which envelopes the amygdala, in emotional processing. Moreover the Papez cirtuit, continues to be one of the most eminent loops of this functional system.

Who the?

Bro. What’s in this shit, man?
